Homepage

The most important in short
(for those being in a hurry):

- Meta tags:
Many search machines read those lines which should be situated before their title of the page:
<Title>here is the title of the page situated <Title>
<meta name="description" content="This is the description of my  services">
<meta name="keywords" content= search term1, search term2, search term3,...">

- Name of the page:
Name your page, if possible, after the search term
(http://...search term/something.html or http://.../search term.html)

- More pages:
If you want to register more pages, which are connected by links, you must use different search terms for each page as well as you must use different description.

- Renewed registration:

After a longer period you should register your pages anew.

- More hits through paid advertisment:
You can book an advertisement  also in often visited pages; Online Media Word offers to firms and small entreprenuers an inexpensive possibility how to realize it.

Search machines work in the following way:

Search machines get data from your homepage and include them in a list. The following data are relevant first of all:

    - Title of the page
    - Meta tags
    - Image Alt- tags (alternative text for pictures)
    - Text of the homepage

There are also two different kinds of search machines, namely automatic ones (your pages are searched for by a program) and manual catalogues.

Each search machine works according to a certain system so that you can emerge with your paage in a machine in the upper places as well as in other ones further below.

The evaluation is carried out according to the following criteria:

  • How often is the search term in the title?
  • Where is the search term in the title situated?
  • What are the first five search terms?
  • How often is the search term in the meta tags sitauted?
  • How often is the search term in the text of the page? (the first 200 signs are mostly determining)

The correct search terms - that way you will be found

Before composing the search terms you should ask yourselves the following questions:

  • Which way do my customers search for my page?
  • What do I offer?
  • What themes of this kind do exist there?
  • Which target audience is interested in my offer?
  • Who needs my offer?
  • Which way are my customers found?
  • What search terms do my competitors use?
  • What meta tags do my competitors use?

Then, write your search terms in peace down (they can be up to 30).

Tip: also a dictionary of synonyms or another kind of  dictionary can be of help!

Can search machines be cheated?

Many people try to get up using various tricks and many new ideas. However, the search machines react very quickly to such experiments and change their configuration automatics every few weeks (or even more quickly).

Many search machines contain a SPAM-filter and punish the pages which try to get up by manipulations.

And so you can try to cheat the search machines, however, there are not many possibilities how to do it. First  of all you should not try to carry out the following steps:

  • Invisible writing: the background and the text have the same colour.
  • Too frequent repetition of search terms in the meta tags.
  • Repetition of the search terms at the end of the page.
  • To write everything in block letters.
  • To use refresh- tags.
  • Keywords which do not belong to the theme.
  • Price data.
